DrannikGeorge Drannik, MD, PhD is the Head of the Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergology at the National Medical University in Kiev, Ukraine. He is also the Head of the Immunology Division at the Institute of Urology, Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, in Kiev, Ukraine. Since 1987 Dr. Drannik has been the Director of the Ukrainian Research Center for Clinical Immunology.

Dr. Drannik has received an Honored Diploma of Medicine from the Kharkov Medical Institute in 1968 and became the Candidate of Medical Sciences in 1972 at the Kiev State Medical University. In 1980 he became Doctor of Medical Sciences at the Kiev State Medical University.

Dr. Drannik is serving as the President of the Ukrainian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (UTIAI) which was founded in May 1998. UTIAI became a member of European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in 1999 and is a member organization of the World Allergy Organization.

Dr. Drannik is the editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian journal “Immunology and Allergology” since 1999. Dr. Drannik has been recognized as an Honored Medicine Leader by the USSR Ministry of Health in 1979 and became Professor in 1986.

Dr. Drannik’s areas of interest include pathogenesis of immune and allergic diseases; study of Chernobyl catastrophe’s influence on immunity; mechanisms of transplantation immunity; interrelation of HLA antigens with immune and allergic pathology; role of immune disturbances in development of urogenital chlamydiosis; and atopic dermatitis.
